Terms of use

What you can expect from this site, what you cannot, and the limits of what we are responsible for.

By Mike M.Last updated

These terms cover your use of tagandtether.com, operated by Iron Mako Media. They were last updated on 5 October 2026. By using the site you accept them; if you do not, please do not use it.

What this site is

Tag & Tether is independent editorial content about GPS trackers and Bluetooth item trackers. It is published for general information. It is not personalized advice, it is not legal advice, and it is not a substitute for reading the manufacturer's own documentation before you buy or rely on a device.

Accuracy, and its limits

We take accuracy seriously and the whole structure of the site is built around it: every specification is cited to the manufacturer with the date we read it, and every device price comes live from Amazon's API and expires automatically after 48 hours rather than going stale. The method is documented in full.

Nevertheless, three honest caveats:

  • Prices change constantly. The price shown at Amazon's checkout is the only one that governs your purchase. Our figure is a snapshot with a date on it.
  • Specifications change without notice. Manufacturers revise spec pages and sometimes revise products while keeping the name. Where our figure and the manufacturer's current page disagree, theirs is correct and we would like to be told.
  • Subscription prices change. Plan rates are cited with an access date for exactly this reason. Confirm the current rate with the brand before committing.

We do not warrant that the content is complete, current or error-free, and we do not accept liability for decisions made solely on the basis of it. If you find an error, tell us — we correct pages on the page, with the date changed.

We have not tested these products

Stated here as well as on every content page, because it matters legally as well as editorially: Tag & Tether does not perform first-hand testing of the products it covers. Our assessments are drawn from published specifications, published plan prices and the three-year cost arithmetic we show on each page. No statement on this site should be read as a claim about measured performance. Our editorial policy sets this out in full.

Affiliate links

This site earns commission from purchases made through its product links. The disclosure page explains the arrangement. Clicking a product link takes you to a third-party retailer — currently Amazon — and your purchase is then governed entirely by that retailer's terms, pricing, warranty and returns policy, not ours. We are not a party to the sale, we cannot process a return, and we have no control over stock, delivery or after-sales service.

Nothing here is legal advice

Several pages on this site discuss the law around tracking devices, including statutes such as California Penal Code § 637.7. Those pages name their sources and their jurisdictions because that is more useful than a vague summary, but they are general information only. Laws differ by state and by context, and family-law, employment and criminal matters all have their own rules.

If a tracking question matters legally to you, speak to a lawyer in your jurisdiction. If you believe you are being tracked and are in danger, contact local law enforcement or a domestic-violence advocacy organization — our detection guides are a practical starting point, not a substitute for help.

Acceptable use

You may read, link to and quote this site with attribution. You may not republish pages in bulk, scrape the content to train a model that reproduces it verbatim, or present our cost tables as your own work. Our robots.txt deliberately permits AI crawlers to read the site — we want these answers to reach people through assistants as well as search — on the understanding that the content is attributed rather than copied wholesale.

We also ask one thing of readers: do not use this site to help you track a person without their knowledge. We will not assist with it, several of our pages are written specifically for the person being tracked, and in many places it is a criminal offense.

Intellectual property

The text, cost tables, page structure and design of this site are the property of Iron Mako Media. Product names, trademarks and product images belong to their respective owners; product imagery is supplied through Amazon's product API and used in connection with links to those products on Amazon.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Iron Mako Media is not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from use of this site or from reliance on its content — including, specifically, loss arising from a product not performing as a manufacturer's specification suggested, from a subscription costing more than a cited rate, or from a tracked item not being recovered. The site is provided as is.

Nothing in these terms excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top of the page changes when we do, and continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of it.
