Your data

Privacy policy

Short version: we have no accounts, no logins and no newsletter. Analytics are aggregate, the contact form emails the owner, and affiliate clicks are counted.

The short version

There are no user accounts on this site, no logins, no newsletter and no comment section, so there is very little personal data for us to hold. The three places data is involved are analytics, the contact form, and the counting of affiliate clicks. Each is covered below.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and which buttons they use. It sets cookies in your browser and reports to Google, who process the data on our behalf. What we actually look at is aggregate: page views by URL, how people arrived, and which pages lead to someone clicking through to a retailer.

We do not use analytics to build a profile of you, we do not attempt to identify individual visitors, and we do not sell or share analytics data with anyone beyond Google's role as our processor. Google's own handling of the data is governed by Google's privacy policy.

If you would rather not be measured, a browser-level tracking blocker, Do Not Track, or Google's own Analytics opt-out add-on will all prevent it. Nothing on this site breaks if you block analytics.

The contact form

When you submit the form on the contact page, the name, email address, subject and message you typed are sent by email to the site owner through Microsoft Graph. They are not stored in a database, because there is no database.

We use that information to reply to you and, where you have reported an error, to correct the page. We do not add you to a mailing list — there is no mailing list — and we do not pass it to anyone else.

The form carries three anti-spam measures you should know about because one of them involves your data: a hidden field that only automated submissions fill in, a timestamp recording when the page loaded so that submissions arriving in milliseconds can be rejected, and a count of submissions per IP address held in memory for one hour. The IP count is not stored persistently and is not linked to anything else.

Affiliate links

Product links on this site pass through our own /go/ redirect before reaching Amazon. That redirect attaches our Amazon Associates identifier so a resulting purchase is attributed to us. It does not store anything about you on our side.

We also record an analytics event when a buy link is clicked, which tells us which pages lead to purchases. The event contains the page, the retailer and the product identifier — not anything about you.

Once you arrive at Amazon you are on Amazon's site and subject to Amazon's own privacy notice, including whatever cookies Amazon sets to attribute the sale. We have no visibility into what you buy or whether you buy at all — only an aggregate commission report. Our affiliate disclosure explains the arrangement.

Hosting and logs

The site is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses for operational and security purposes. We do not mine those logs and we do not combine them with anything else.

What we never do

  • Sell personal data. There is almost none to sell and we would not sell it.
  • Run retargeting or advertising pixels. There are no ads on this site.
  • Require an account, a login or an email address to read anything.
  • Email you unless you emailed us first.

Children

This site is written for adults buying products and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has sent us a message through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Your rights, and how to use them

Depending on where you live you may have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to its processing. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is an email you sent us.

To make any such request, email contact@tagandtether.com. We will respond within a reasonable period and will not charge for it. California residents: we do not sell personal information as that term is defined under the CCPA, and we do not offer financial incentives for data.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page changes with it. We do not maintain a changelog, but we also do not make quiet changes — any new category of data collection would be described here in plain terms.
